A brief Bio: Growing up as a child in Charlotte, NC, he built Lego models of buildings and drew several dream mansions for himself. His mother saw his talent and told him that he should become an architect. He started taking drafting classes in high school and quickly became the best drafting student winning drafting awards. He was chosen the final gold medalist in North Carolina's State High School Architectural Drafting Competition. When he entered Georgia Tech's architecture program, he learned about design philosophy and the science of buildings. He built houses with his friend's father while a young man during summers between college semesters. He moonlighted during his time at Tech, designing several small residential projects. After graduation, he became an architect's apprentice. He worked on major civic and commercial building designs while an apprentice from 1995 to 2001. In 2001, after six years of apprenticeship and passing the Architectural Record Exam, he became a full fledged Licensed Architect and he immediately set out on his own and started Allen Architects. He has either designed or worked on over 100 custom homes and other types of commercial and civic buildings.
